In 2020, there were two stimulus checks that were sent out to Americans who qualify. One for $600 and the other for $1200. People excluded in those stimulus payments include people earning more than $80,000 per year, dependents over 18 years of age, nonresident aliens, and people without a social security number. For everyone else, they should have received their stimulus payments, though not everyone has yet.
For the many people who haven’t received all or part of the first two stimulus checks, there is a way to claim the amounts owed.

To claim the missing amounts, you’ll need to request them through your 2020 tax filings. This year, the IRS has included a Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet to be filled out from the form 1040.

When you fill this form out and they confirm you are owed money, the refund will be added to either your refund or reduce the amount of taxes you owe on your 2020 tax filing return.
