My name is Benjamin Kohen, I am a New York based wedding photographer and cinematographer specializing in documentary style of wedding capture. A big bulk of my current clients include families with a wide ranging Jewish backgrounds and traditions. In the past few years my work has attracted hundreds of discerning clientele in and around New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Israel, and even Shanghai China, looking for creative and timeless wedding photography with a modern appeal. I am best known for my composition, documentary style and capture of of natural moments and my heartfelt dedication to my clients and their wide ranging religious customs and traditions (Ashkenaz, Sephardic, Hasidish, Reformed and Conservative religious background are all welcome) Since opening my studio in 2011, I have photographed hundreds of weddings across the United states, Canada, Israel and beyond. For each of those weddings I strive to create beautiful photographs of naturally occurring moments, stunning portraits, delicate detail images, and dynamic images of Chuppas (Jewish Wedding Ceremony), Badekens, Husson’s Tish and everything in between.
In 2015, I was also honored to have been accepted in to an Internationally renowned and critically acclaimed Wedding Photojournalist Association and the Artistic Guild of Wedding photojournalists. The two associations that uphold the highest standards in the industry for its exclusive list only five thousand, hand picked photographers from all over the world. Since becoming a member of both WPJA an AGPJA, I have since been awarded multiple times in various categories, including Emotions, Ceremony/Chuppah, bride and groom portraits and wedding details. I have also been privileged to be on the pages of Mishpacha Magazine, a Jewish publication focusing on Jewish Lifestyle and Culture as well as a multiple features on Jewish Brides the de-facto blog for everything Jewish Weddings and Brides. Since 2016, I have once again been privileged to become multiple award recipient of internationally recognized WEDAWARDS AND WEDISSON both respected photography competitions.
It’s always a gratifying feeling to be granted awards and showered with accolades from across the globe however my drive to work with families across the United States and the world on their weddings and other creative projects is not dictates by the amount of awards I get. The goal always was and will be to provide the best experience a bride and groom can possible get.
