Benji Lovitt’s observations on Israeli society, combined with his lifelong involvement in Jewish education, create a hilarious narrative that has brought smiles to faces all over the world.
Since making aliyah in 2006, Benji has been called on by Jewish organizations to share his hilarious insights into cultural differences as he translates both the challenges and marvels of life in Israel.
He has delivered standup performances and educational presentations for groups such as Chabad, the Orthodox Union, Birthright Israel, and Jewish Federations in places including North America, Israel, South Africa, Australia, and England.
His perspectives on Israeli society have been featured in USA Today, BBC Radio, Time Magazine, the Atlantic, and the Times of Israel.
Benji has opened for well-known comedians Jim Gaffigan and Elon Gold and was called “playful, clever, and full of joy” by TV star Mayim Bialik.
He has worked as a cross-cultural trainer with Israel’s Foreign Ministry and during 2014’s Operation Protective Edge, his humorous observations on the war led to his being called in Israel “the only reason to go on Facebook.”

Benji performed at a Yom Ha’atzmaut party we co-sponsored with Masa Israel Journey. He provided us with the perfect, hilarious, low-key Israel-focused program to help celebrate this fun day. The crowd was laughing the whole time, and we practically had to force them out the door at the end of the night!

Benji performed for a JCC Birthright group of summer camp staff. If there’s someone else who does a better job of breaking down the differences between American and Israeli Jews, and in such a funny way, I haven’t seen it. They didn’t stop laughing for an hour and even the ‘serious’ conversation at the end was fun and educational. Benji should be a must on every Birthright tour.
