How long has Ideal been around?
In 1959 Ideal Stamp and Coin established its headquarters in the heart of New York City. Ideal maintains one of the largest secure facilities in the country. Now, in response to increasing demand from collectors and dealers, we have opened a new office in the heart of the world's Financial District at 115 Broadway in New York and an expanded 50,000 square foot vault facility in central New Jersey, specifically to appraise your stamps, coins, jewelry, and silver and gold bullion. The office is safe, secure, and convenient.

A coin is a legal tender monetary item that is struck in metal by a government-authorized mint. The United Sates first started issuing its own unique coins in the 1790's, and for more than 200 years it has created some of the world's greatest and most valuable coins. Classics such as the $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin (1907-1933) and Morgan Silver Dollar (1878-1921) are among the most highly sought-after U.S. coins, but almost every out-of-issue coin is a potentially valuable collector's item.
Silver coins, which were last made for circulation in the 1960's, and gold coins, which were last made for circulation in 1933, are especially treasured by collectors and investors alike.
Investment grade coins are coins that are determined to have exceptional collector and investor appeal, usually due to their scarcity and precious metal content. To assure their authenticity and grade, these coins are almost always certified and graded by an independent grading service.
Unlike coins, bullion is uncoined precious metal, usually in the form of bars of various weights. Bullion bars are available in almost any size from one ounce to 100 ounces or more. Bullion bars are usually pure silver, pure gold, or pure platinum and are created by renowned refiners rather than by government mints. They are available at a small premium over spot price.
A third category combines the collectability of coins and the appeal of bullion: bullion coins such as the American Eagle silver, gold, and platinum coins issued by the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government. Bullion coins are generally issued in small, convenient sizes such as 1/10 ounce, ¼ ounce, ½ ounce, and one ounce. Like bullion, these coins are available at a small premium over the spot price of the precious metal.
