Shirah Wine was founded by Gabriel & Shimon Weiss – two brothers, born in Ohio and raised in New York and New Jersey. Gabriel, (otherwise known as “Gabe” or the hebrew “Gavriel”), is the artist – the creative visionary behind the wines themselves. He hand-picks the vineyards and oversees the blends and vintages. Shimon built up the winery and ensures the vision and the product meet a world-class standard in winemaking from harvest to bottle.
Shirah Wine is more than a winery. It’s more like a philosophy: wines are expressive and shouldn’t be cookie-cutter or balanced to the point of boring. Every wine is thought-out. It considers the exact vineyard, varietal, clone and harvest date to determine where that grape would taste best. Some remain single vineyard bottles, and others join together in blends. Every wine tells a unique story and has its own nuance. Shirah Wines entertain, delight and inspire.
Shirah Wine began when Gabriel Weiss began working as a cellar boy in the kosher wine industry in 2001, leading him to California. He partnered with a buddy to make their first wine on the side. This inspired him to keep making wines, and was soon joined by Shimon Weiss (his younger brother) on the west coast. Together, they built up the amount of grape tonnage and bottles they could process per year. The wines continue to remain specialized and unique and have reached consumers around the globe.
